Formerly the site of open-cast mining, the Gardens are now well recovered and offer a tranquil space encompassing ancient trees, shaded woodland copses and a peppering of follies and monuments across the landscape. Vast lawns stretch out from the House’s beautiful baroque façade, and historic paths meander under majestic veteran trees. Whether you choose to visit early in the year for snowdrops, daffodils, bluebells and camellias, or wait for the rhododendrons and border garden to burst into life, so much awaits on each visit!

Garden-lovers and families alike can enjoy a day in the gardens discovering many hidden delights from the sweeping views over the South Terrace to the Forest of Bewilderment natural play area and picnic spot. Little ones can learn more about the Gardens with free activity sheets and, for those wanting to enjoy a more mindful visit, there is a complimentary Wentworth Wellbeing Guide with activities to help you re-connect with nature.
