Wednesday 1st October, 6.30pm-8.00pm
Join Dr Peter Collinge (Keele University) as we dive into the world of Georgian gin – the demon drink of the eighteenth century. As it flooded towns and cities, in its wake came illicit gatherings, poisonings, crime, scandal, death and murder. Aghast at its intoxicating and debilitating effects, especially among the poor, moral crusaders took to the streets and to the printing press – so too did it promotors. The results were both riotous and turbulent.
Price: £15.00 (includes a welcome drink of tea or coffee)
