Each Christmas, Wentworth Woodhouse transforms into something entirely new.
One winter, you might step into a fairytale ballroom. For another, you’ll wander through rooms dressed with stockings and storybook magic. And in 2025, you’ll enter the icy kingdom of The Snow Queen when we bring Hans Christian Anderson’s tale to life across 13 rooms of the House.
This tradition of change isn’t by chance. It’s at the heart of what makes Christmas at Wentworth Woodhouse so special. No two years are ever the same, and every visit offers a fresh memory waiting to be made.
CEO, Sarah McLeod OBE, says, “When we first decided to run a Christmas event, it was with a degree of nervousness. We’d never created something on the scale of A Tale As Old As Time before, and we didn’t know how well it would be received. The reaction was overwhelmingly positive, though, so when it came to planning the 2024 event, we knew we had to bring something fresh for our visitors. Fast forward to today, and we’ve chosen to work with the incredible team at Culture Creative to provide an experience that will knock people’s socks off!”

Each theme over the past few years has reimagined the house in a completely different light, ensuring that returning guests always experience something unexpected. The Snow Queen will be no exception, with visitors making their way through robbers ’ dens and stunning snowscapes. You’ll see the Land of Eternal Sunshine brought to life, get directions from the Finnish Women and, finally, reach The Snow Queen’s kingdom.
From Volunteers to a Professional Production
In previous years, our Christmas events were brought to life by teams of dedicated volunteers and staff, whose hard work and passion created magical moments for thousands of visitors.
In 2025, we’re proud to take that tradition forward by partnering with Culture Creative, the award-winning design studio behind five-star festive experiences at Blenheim Palace and Kew Gardens. Their arrival is an exciting milestone. With their help and the continued efforts of our staff and volunteers, we’ll host a production worthy of a global stage, brought here for the people of South Yorkshire to enjoy.
“Our volunteers built the foundations of Christmas at Wentworth Woodhouse. Now, with Culture Creative, we can take it to the next level,” says Sarah McLeod OBE.
Why Your Christmas Visit Matters
Wentworth Woodhouse isn’t just a backdrop for a Christmas story. We’re a charity working year-round to protect one of our region’s most remarkable houses.
But this place can’t run on Yorkshire spirit alone. Every trip you make, every brew you buy, and every penny you donate stays right here. Helping to protect this special place and create opportunities for our region.

By booking a ticket to The Snow Queen, you’re not only getting the chance to immerse yourself in a five-star festive experience. You’re also helping to restore and sustain Wentworth Woodhouse for future generations.
If you’re already a My Wentworth Member, you can also book a free ticket* for yourself via the link above.
