Wednesday 19th February, 6.30-8.00pm
Once a great Treasure House of Britain, Wentworth Woodhouse was home to extraordinary collections amassed over 350 years. Following the Second World War, these treasures were dispersed after the untimely death of the 8th Earl Fitzwilliam in 1948. While some were sold in high-profile auctions, others remained in trust with the family, with a few returning to the house for the first time last year at the ‘Beneath the Surface: George Stubbs & Contemporary Artists Exhibition’.
Join Matthew Hirst, Curator at Woburn Abbey and trustee of Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust, as he explores the treasures of Wentworth Woodhouse. Discover their place among the Treasure Houses of Britain, trace their journeys to some of the leading museums across the globe, and uncover the fascinating stories of the old master paintings, antique and neoclassical sculptures, 18th century furniture, Rockingham porcelain, and more.
Price: £15.00 (includes welcome drink of tea or coffee)
