Many a visitor to Wentworth Woodhouse has travelled down the driveway, got as far as The Stables and assumed they are outside the house itself. The huge, Palladian-style building looks far too grand to have been built only for horses and carriages.
The doors of Wentworth Woodhouse’s mansion are opening once again. The house has been closed since March, when lockdown came into force. But the Preservation Trust which owns the Grade I listed Rotherham stately home is now able to welcome visitors back in safety.
Discover Wentworth Woodhouse’s hidden tales on a new specialist tour with experts including our Head Gardener, conservation team, and longest-serving staff member, who can tell stories of working for the Fitzwilliam family nearly half a century ago.
