The first signs of spring

Discover our stunning snowdrop walks at Wentworth Woodhouse this February.

See the garden come back to life after winter as the first signs of snowdrops peek out to welcome the spring.

The garden at Wentworth Woodhouse will be reopening on Saturday 2 February to the beautiful sight of snowdrops* as we welcome visitors for guided walks. (*Subject to Mother Nature!)

Enjoy a one-mile guided stroll along our intertwining networks of woodland paths on selected dates from Saturday 2 February to Sunday 24 February.

Thousands of snowdrop bulbs have been divided and replanted by our gardeners and their dedicated team of volunteers to provide a magical trail for visitors to follow and spot the delicate drifts of snowdrops.

Wander along Beech Avenue with its banks of flowers before taking in the magnificent South Terrace with its panoramic views of surrounding countryside. The route will also explore historic features of the garden, including the Ionic Temple, the Punchbowl, and views of the elegant Baroque façade of the mansion.

The snowdrops are at their best from early February and are followed by the colourful blooms of daffodils, rhododendrons and azaleas as we move into the warmer months.

The garden at Wentworth Woodhouse has been cared for by Head Gardener Scott Jamieson for the past 15 years.

He says: “For many years the gardens were under private ownership and therefore unseen by many. Now we enter an exciting new chapter and it is a great privilege to share these beautiful gardens and this landscape with our new visitors, many of whom I’m sure will become regular visitors, as the gardens are of real interest all year round, with exciting projects in place for the future.”

This year, a special spotter sheet will be available for families at weekends and throughout half-term, so the kids can enjoy the great outdoors and the treasures of the gardens too.

After your walk, why not warm up over a coffee or a bowl of soup in our tea room or browse the new range of garden-inspired gifts in our shop.

Afternoon tea is now available at the house and you can book an afternoon tea with your guided walk on our website and enjoy a discount when booked together.

Guided walks will take place on selected dates from Saturday 2 to Sunday 24 February.
