Come and join us as we celebrate Christmas in style at Wentworth Woodhouse, with a traditional market, festive concert, and plenty of seasonal treats!
A merry market
This year’s Christmas market will be better than ever as, for the first time, it has been organised in-house and the team have carefully handpicked each and every one of our stall holders to ensure a quality offer that won’t break the bank.
The Christmas market will be held over three days from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 December and will be a wonderful way to get into the festive spirit. Located on the front lawn and in the decorated Pillared Hall, you’ll find a range of quality gifts, handmade and vintage items, locally-sourced food, arts and crafts products and beautiful decorations for your home.
Bring the whole family and enjoy hot food and drink in our outdoor tipi, while singing along to your favourite Christmas tunes. Performing arts students from Rotherham College will be singing on Friday and Thorpe Hesley Brass Band will be performing on Sunday.
Father Christmas will be making a special appearance for families, with a small gift for each child. Santa’s Grotto is £5 per child, to pay on the day. There will also be traditional games and craft activities for the kids.
The majority of stalls will be outdoors, so wrap up warm and join in the festive fun!
Friday 7 December 10am-6pm
Saturday 8 December 10am-6pm
Sunday 9 December 10am-4pm
Children under 12: FREE
This is a ticket only event and there will be no ‘pay on the day’ option, so please book now to avoid disappointment. Tickets can be purchased online at www.wentworthwoodhouse.org.uk/events or by phoning 01226 351161.
Get in the festive spirit
The Christmas mood will be further enhanced by a special concert on Saturday 22 December. The Thurnscoe Harmonic Male Voice Choir will once again be performing at Wentworth Woodhouse in the stunning setting of the Marble Saloon. They will entertain guests with a full repertoire of songs, ranging from pop musicals to classical choral and even a sprinkling of Elvis.
Saturday 22 December, 6.30pm-8pm
Please book tickets in advance via our website or phone 01226 351161.
Tours at Christmas
In the run-up to Christmas, the house will be open for tours as usual. Our popular Wentworth and Clifford tours will end in the beautifully decorated Pillared Hall, with mince pies and mulled wine on offer in the tearoom. Tour vouchers are available to purchase from the house, if you’re searching for an ideal gift for family and friends.
Tours will run until Friday 21 December. Please see our website for details of all the Christmas events and how to book tours.
A Christmas gift with a difference
If you’re joining us for a tour, be sure to take a peek at our lovely new gift shop. There are beautiful coffee-table books, historical novels, delicious confectionery and preserves, as well as a stunning selection of artisan Christmas decorations. Ideally located next to the tearoom, it’s a perfect opportunity to buy some mementos of your visit to Wentworth Woodhouse or stock up on Christmas gifts.
But if you’re still struggling to find a unique gift for that hard-to-buy-for relative, look no further than our innovative slate campaign. For a minimum recommended donation of £50, you can gift a slate for your loved-one and have their name, a message or handprint etched onto it. The slates will then be laid over the state rooms on the East Front to be rediscovered in the distant future.
Be sure to place your order by Monday 10 December for it to be ready in time for Christmas.
