A limited-edition classic dry has been created and distilled especially for Wentworth Woodhouse by Barnsley’s Nailmaker Distilling Company. Botanicals are inspired by the mansion’s gardens in their heyday, when exotic plants and fruits were nurtured in hothouses and a kitchen garden grew produce all year-round. Notes of pineapple and grape blend with mulberry and good old English rhubarb.
Curl up to read Catherine Bailey’s best-seller Black Diamonds with the perfect tipple… The book which took the story of Rotherham stately home Wentworth Woodhouse around the world has now inspired a gin!
It’s on sale in the mansion’s gift shop, priced £15 for 20cl and £35 for 50cl. Profits go towards Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust’s massive task of repairing and running the house.
Black Diamonds, which charted the rise and fall of the families who once owned the Grade I listed Georgian stately home, has also inspired the latest tour. Created by the author herself, the Black Diamonds Tour runs throughout the week, priced £25 (half-price admission for National Trust members).
